I have totally forgotten the more boring/preachy parts, but I loved the simulator at the end. Finance and the oil business were both really fun, and to be honest, the program itself was pretty progressive in the 80s. I think each year lasted about five minutes, so you could blow through a decade easily and build an industrial empire. In retrospect, the anti-regulatory, hyper-conservative message was silly, but I mostly ignored that as a child, so I guess the propaganda machine didn't work on me.

Perhaps more interesting: Since my sister worked there for a while, I got a sweet gig appearing in a parade as Bubbin (my friend was Zazzie), complete with smelly costume and wooden flying saucer. My brush with fame, I guess. A bee somehow made it into my friend's costume head at one point, and that was hilarious for me and all the kids watching. Communist bee, why do you hate free market capitalism?

Nice post, thanks! Memphis still holds a special place in my heart, I spent a few years there and still remember visits to Graceland, Beale Street, and of course the <a href="http://memphisu.com/beale/memphis-blues-music-remains-a-time-honored-genre/" rel="nofollow">blues clubs.

I miss this place! It was dated but I loved it as a kid and if it was still open I would love to go back and reminisce. Yes...the end was sponsored by Venture which I'm sure not many people remember that store.

i had put off the 'enterprise square' google for some time due to the fear that it was only a dream. I had attended the FAA Center in Oaklahoma in the early 90's and talked my dad into visiting while he was staying with me. I still have a magnet from the facility featuring those 'aliens' - bubbin, zazzie and quonk ... the only proof of our actual attendance. It's been over 17 years and I can still remember the 'weird' vibe from the place ... funny that I never thought of it as having any 'agenda' beyond attempting to make a 'boring' subject something more. Thanks for the memories!

This place was dated, but it was cool! It was like stepping back in time to the 70's, and that was one of the neatest things about it. I know that sounds dumb, but I was about 8 years old at the time.

Heartbeat Rotunda, Hall of Giants, The Singing Presidents, The Donut Shop, I can't pick a favorite.

As I recall, the exact problem with their spaceship was that they're Thrombinator had been snerked, and they needed some Gleeply to de-snerk it.

The second time I went, I had full intentions of purchasing the lawnmowing game, and was dissappointed that they only offered it on Mac.

...and what was the name of the last exhibit, the room with all those computers in a big circle where you could play that oil tycoon game... Oh yeah, Venture!
